I hate to agree but I think the warnings about what Nintendo might do if they made a proper Metroid are entirely warranted. GC: We think they must do, especially as original publisher Acclaim are no more.
I’ve never been a fan of Dead Rising, so that leaves… SSX? I’d kill for Burnout 2 but I’m not sure EA own that licence. And as much as I enjoyed Bad Company 2 back in the day I’m not sure if there’s really any point in a remaster. As GC says, they don’t really make those sort of games. Think about other EA remasters I really am drawing a blank though. (Although I severely doubt Andromeda is going to make its spring release date). Or maybe it is just that they’ve left everything too late. The only one I can think of is that the new game is too similar to the old ones and they don’t want the comparison. I think it’s a shame though, and since it seems such an obvious thing to do, that fans were obviously going to buy, I have to wonder what the ulterior motive was. Although either way it’s impressive that we get such quick service on our requests! I think that EA announcement about Mass Effect remaster may be the first example of reverse Inbox magic. GC: He doesn’t know anything about American football, but we will try and get him to do the others. I know Mr Pinkerton has just returned from holiday, but with this, Assetto Corsa, Madden NFL 17 and PES 2017 he has plenty of work to keep him from getting post-holiday blues!
Of course it won’t sell as well as FIFA, but unless FIFA has really upped its gameplay this season (which with the focus on a story mode I very much doubt) this must be the king of football games in the annual battle. Add to that, the fact that finally the goalkeepers can actually catch the ball this year and I think this is one franchise Konami has (finally) got sorted. Passing is so fluid, the artificial intelligence of both your team-mates and the opposition is spot on, and if you spot a run and make the through ball the sense of achievement is great. The demo was released this week and it is sublime.
However, I would like to praise them for the massive improvements they have made to their other big console game: Pro Evolution Soccer. I am not a massive fan of Metal Gear Solid, but I am aware of the criticism that Konami has been receiving recently for its handling of the series.
